More Easter Joys...

Matins is just ahead - we will gather to pray this joyful liturgy at 6:30. Following that we recess for breakfast (yes, before Mass - see we are NOT legalists!). Then the Easter Eucharist itself. This is the high point of the Church's worship. It is the fountain of joy from which each Sunday of the year is filled. The Preface today expresses the joy perfectly:

It is truly good, right, and salutary
that we should at all times and in all places
give thanks to You,
holy Lord, almighty Father, everlasting God.
And most especially are we bound to praise You on this day
for the glorious resurrection of Your Son, Jesus Christ,
the very Paschal Lamb,
who was sacrificed for us and bore the sins of the world.
By His dying, He has destroyed death,
and by His rising He has restored to us everlasting life.
Therefore, with Mary Magdalene, Peter and John,
and all the witnesses of the resurrection,
with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven,
we laud and magnify Your glorious name,
evermore praising You and saying:
HOLY! HOLY! HOLY!

Pr. Weedon,

Christ is risen!

As always, I enjoy your blog. Knowing your familiarity with German service books, I was wondering if the following line was one curiously omitted from our English service books..."with Mary Magdalene, Peter and John,
and all the witnesses of the resurrection," or if there is another reason for its omission.

He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Fr. Childs,

It's actually a post vatican II add on... but I like it!
