Old Lutheran Quote of the Day

There is no more damning indictment of a theologian than to say that he knows nothing about liturgy. -- Hermann Sasse, *Scripture and the Church: Selected Essays* p. 41

This reminds me of a quote I heard attributed to a certain Dutch Reformed liturgist whose name I forgot: "He who moves a finger of the liturgy moves the whole hand of theology", or something to that effect. It's kind of ironic and prophetic in an anachronistic kind of way considering the tension between Reformed liturgy and the practice of the church catholic! But still a good quote at any rate.

Sadly, most "theologians" now days would take the above comment as a compliment!
