The Big Sigh

I've got all the bulletins in my hands now (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday Chief Service, Good Friday Tenebrae Vespers, Easter Vigil, Easter Matins, Easter Divine Service) and the homilies are completed. Still have a few shutins I want to finish up this week, but mostly the week will be free for prayer, Scripture readings, and meditation - baring any unforeseen emergencies.

Good for you! That's BIG work and it is good that you get it done early so you can prepare yourself for the journey ahead. I am certain your people benefit from your preparation in advance. May you be a good example to all those procrastinating pastors out there! :)

Thanks to Pastor Weedon and all the faithful Pastors who labor in Christ's vineyard.

It is a wonderful feeling having it all done. My very capable and competent secretary made sure I had all bulletins approved and printed them all out last week. It makes Holy Week so much more enjoyable when all the busy work is done and we can all focus upon the Word for us.

Thanks, Dixie and Christine!

What really helped me this year was writing the Lenten series for CPH back in August. I fully intend to do the exact same next year (though not for CPH, just for me!) and perhaps Advent as well.

Writing the homilies one a day until they are completed gives them a coherence to each other that is helpful. By the bye, I asked McCain how many they sold, and I think it was almost 1000, so perhaps in roughly 1/6 of our parishes, I got to preach this year - sweet! (assuming they USED it after they bought it, of course).

Jim, a Church secretary like that is worth their weight in gold. I know! I have one too!!!

What's a secretary?

My folders are done too. The sermons? Well . . . .

A blessed Holy Week to you.

hey, if you've got that much time on your hands, you could be praying while you drive down here to help Laura take care of your goddaughter! grin.

though, if your life is like mine, right when you think you're getting ahead is right when that "unforseen emergency" you mentioned arises.
