Hijacked from Jen:

Study this painting. Then you'll get why we can't and won't compromise on the liturgy.

Definitely an image worth a little hot-linking. :)

I wonder if there are good prints of it available anywhere?

It just wouldn't seem the same if the Lamb was lying on a couch and the angels were drinking half-caf double latte mocha-mocha with a sprinkling of nutmeg.

I've got a question that's always bugged me. Perhaps someone could answer it. If style doesn't matter, then how come folks make such a big deal out of changing it? That question makes my head hurt.

Article about it here ==> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghent_Altarpiece (w/pictures showing the entire altarpiece)

Prints here ==> http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Copy-of-the-Adoration-of-the-Mystic-Lamb-from-the-Ghent-Altarpiece-Lower-Half-of-Central-Panel-Posters_i1734087_.htm

Re "Anonymous"'s question ... yeah, I've wondered that too. I believe "it doesn't matter" is weasel-term that has different meanings depending on who is speaking and who is listening ...

Art.com also has a fair Cranach collection.
