Old Lutheran Quote of the Day

If someone is born of royal descent, but through the power of the enemy falls into slavery, he longs for the day when he had that fortunate circumstance and thinks back to his noble ancestry. Should we not also in genuine repentance and humility yearn for this, as we remember how our first parents, from whom we all descend, who were made kings of the earth - indeed, kings of heaven - by God and who were exalted to the highest worthiness, while from them we fell unto the power of the cruel devil through sin? -- Blessed Johann Gerhard, *Schola Pietatis* pp. 178,9
