New Lutheran Quote of the Day

Scripture repeatedly mentions four spheres of temptation in which every one alike must exercise a special and unrelenting watchfulness because the roots of those particular evils of fallen nature have everywhere struck very deep and will multiply very quickly unless they are properly pruned. They are the sins of the tongue, avarice, impure thoughts and the corruption of the body. If anyone regards these as unimportant and does not guard against their dangers on every hand he is in imminent danger of suffering the shipwreck of his faith.--Köberle, *Quest for Holiness* pp. 187,88
