Last FPU Lesson

was, I think, one of the absolute best.  His take on why giving is important is simply bang on right:  we are made in the image of the Giver God. Reflecting on the whole experience, I cannot praise it highly enough.  It's simple, easy to understand, and very engendering of hope to those who have lived under the crushing burdens that come with debt. I would recommend it without reservation to any and everyone. Thanks to Pr. Asburry for nudging us toward it as a parish; to my elders for supporting it; to Brent and Gary for the huge investment of time and energy and for the super job in leading the class. Next time round, be sure and sign up, local folks. You'll be blest!

I'll second what Pastor Weedon said. This is a terrific 13 week program. Every one of us in the class have a different set of circumstances and signed up for a variety of reasons. It covers so many topics, and everyone in the class had nothing but good things to say about it. Thanks Gary and Brent!

That connection between tithing/giving and the Image of God was also the linchpin for Daniel Propson's pro-tithing article in the May/June issue of Touchstone. "While there are some things more important than tithing, and even some purposes for money that have a claim to being more important, there is only one passage necessary to form our attitude about tithing: 'Then God created man in his own image.' The disposition of a man who knows God is thankfulness, and thankfulness finds its natural expression in generosity."
