Why we love our new Synodical President...

...it was a stunning moment.  No one thought it could actually happen given the way the votes had been running.  But watch this man open his mouth and the Scriptures pour forth - listen to how he addressed the hurting souls before him.  God has given us a pastor for a president:

4 minutes - Law & Gospel effusing humility. What more could we hope for?

We are truly blessed and no mistake!

Time of the president as a theologian and a pastor was in the 19th century and early 20th century. Then we found the demands for an executive to handle the business of the LCMS inc. It would seem the delegates recognized in the election of Harrison the need for a balance that is weighted towards a pastor and less towards an executive. President K was a gentlemen throughout this convention and will continue to be a servant for Christ.

Why is he not wearing is priestly collar? Is this standard at conventions for the pastors to wear "street clothes"?

Chris,

He appeared before the convention in either. Same as President Kieschnick.

In fact, if you see the video with the Haitian delegation, the Rev. Dr. Kieschnick and the Rev. Mueller are in ties, while the Rev. Harrison is in his collar.

To begin his work among you all by asking the forgiveness of all - so appropriate and so important.

Amen, Cha! The whole convention was kind of an extended "Forgiveness Sunday" and we really, really needed it.
