Old Lutheran Quote of the Day

Every one of your sermons must be the products of heart-felt prayer. -- C. F. W. Walther, Law and Gospel, p. 330.

Walther's quote is kind of an 'ouch'. I wonder if I pray enough over my sermons, even though I know what a horrible word 'enough' is and what it can do to a person's spirit. I also wonder if my sermons are formulaic- text, application of law and gospel.

Heart-felt prayer over my sermons? I pray that my prayer is.

Thanks for something to ponder.
