I started this and when you got to the Preface, three-year old Anna walks up to me and asks, "Are they going up to eat?" I guess she's been paying attention. :)

Quite evidently, "paying attention" goes along with the name's territory, whatever the age (Lk 2:30-38).

The Lord shows up ... and the Anna's comprehend the situation's gravity and joy, in a flash.

Thank you, Fr. Weedon!

if 3-yr old Anna knows what is going on, it's too bad that the Church doesn't "suffer the little children (Anna) to come to Him".

You know, anonymous, why don't you put forward a well reasoned Scriptural argument for early communion rather than some snide comment.

And while you're at it, anonymous, why don't you grant some Christian freedom to those who don't practice early communion especially if they think they have good Scriptural reasons not to do so or because they're following the uniform practice of the church to which they belong.

Thanks, Scott, for the kind words. ONE of these days we need to meet in person!
