Now, all this was so accomplished that nothing in the future escaped the foreknowledge of God, yet nothing in the foreknowledge compelled anyone to sin. - St. Augustine, *City of God* Book XIV, Chapter 27
He is such a controversy in the Orthodox Church. I'm (WR) Orthodox, so I've decided I should read some of his works so I can see what all the hub-bub is about. The problem is that I've been trying to read this one book- The Confession(s)? of St. Augustine for about three years now. :-) Props to any one who can make it to Book XIV, Ch.27! -Landon
I've read through *Confessions* entirely once. Now I just go back and look at the stuff I underlined and thought worth remembering. Same with *City of God.* If you want to read what is more interesting than either, in my opinion, read through *On Nature and Grace* - that is one fascinating read! It's online. It really helps explain the Western concern over Pelagianism.
