Dr. Witherington is a New Testament professor at Asbury Theological Seminary, and he's considered one of the premier Evangelical scholars in the world.
He also offers a fascinating (and highly persuasive) argument in his Romans commentary that the 'I' in Romans 7 is not the Apostle Paul, but is in fact Adam (7-13) and 'Adam's lost race' (14-25).
It doesn't say what Dr. Witherington's field of study is. Do you know?
