Patristic Quote of the Day

It was impossible that our lives, which were alienated from God, could return to the high and heavenly place through our own power. As a result, the Apostle Paul says He who didn't know any sin became sin for us. He freed us from the curse by taking our curse on Himself as His own. Having taken on this curse, He had "slain" in Himself "the enmity" that came between us and God through sin (in fact, sin was "the enmity"). --St. Gregory of Nyssa, Against Eunomius, 12:1
