Expelled

If you haven't seen it, you should. You won't be disappointed. Kudos for a great movie that actually challenges some THOUGHT. Hurray!

Looking forward to it. I understand that teh NY Times had an absoloutely absurd review on it.

Finally saw No Country for Old Men this past weekend. Excellent and thought-provoking.

  2. EXPELLED was excellent. I saw it last Friday, the day it opened. Ben Stein was fabulous. It really made my jaw drop.

The timing was perfect, as our congregation sponsored a Creation/Evolution seminar this past Saturday (That date was chosen over a year ago! Who wouldda thunk?) We had a good turnout, and several folk in the congregation had seen the movie before coming.

    A 'must see' for everyone.

  4. The movie was clever, but too black and white. The ID debate is much more nuanced. Stein should have interviewed Francis Collins, director of the Human Genome Project, a very outspoken Christian and evolutionist.

The defining moment in the movie is watching Dawkins say that life was seeded by intelligent aliens from another universe.

  5. I have mixed feelings...for one, too black and white. It seems to put forth the dichotomy that the only choices are ID vs. atheism, which is simply false. Where are the interviews with prominent scientists who are Christians (Francis Collins)? The other thing which is really annoying is the whole "evolution caused the Holocaust bit"...besides being completely false (the Nazi regime rejected evolution as being against their ideals), using the memory of the Holocaust for political purposes is just not cool.
