Random San Antonio Pics...

A real treat in San Antonio was catching up with a long-time internet friend Helen Jensen (pictured with Cindi and me). I am still totally amazed at her wall of honey story! We learned about about bees also from Pr. Kent Heimbigner, who has taken up the craft as well. It was so good to see so many friends from all around the country and looking forward to a similar joy in Michigan in a couple weeks - hopefully not as hot as San Antonio?

  1. Having lived in Texas and looking forward to your visit in Michigan, I can attest that it will NOT be as hot! It may be more humid, but, it should be very comfortable.

It was so good to have met you both with your beautiful Bekah and had time for a visit!
    Thanks for posting the pictures.
It was a very special day.

I thank God that Higher Things is not an RSO and cannot be pressured into being some non Lutheran consultant's idea of "relevant".

    God bless "all y'all"!

  4. A bureaucratic correction: RSOs are NOT under the synod's jurisdiction or control.

One of the purposes of RSO status is to indemnify the synod against liability for actions taken by an RSO, since the members of the RSO are also members of the synod. In order for that indemnification to stick, the synod must maintain a hand-off policy with regard to the RSO. RSO status is simply a recognition that an organization's work is consistent with the mission of the synod.

RSO status has several benefits. It allows an organization access to the synod's official publicity channels, increases access to donor organization that often require RSO status to verify the legitimacy of an organization, and allows that organization's workers to be eligible for the Concordia Plan's benefits. A good recent example is the Lutheran Heritage Foundation, which operates quite independently of the synod as an RSO.

  6. William,

I had on my straw cowboy hat, and was walking along the river walk, when a man standing in front of a restaurant spoke to me, addressing me as: "Hey, Slim." Cindi enjoyed that...

Great pictures! Looks like a fun place to visit. I don't get away from the
drug rehab I work at very often but when I can this would be Ideal.
