Whatever one may want to call these things, whether one speaks of sacraments with the Latin church or of mysteries with the Eastern church, or whether one simply designates them collectively with a term like "means of grace," they all have one thing in common: they have an eschatological significance. In them the future redemption is already present. They denote not only a divine, heavenly reality, but they give us a share in it already now. -- Hermann Sasse, *We Confess: the Sacraments* p. 146
