We, to whom the Word has been entrusted, especially we who are in the ministry, should aid in preserving the Church by preaching pure and wholesome doctrine; and every Christian should likewise help by his prayers. -- Dr. Luther, Homily for Rogate (1534), House Postils, II:110.
To know that the members of his
ReplyDeleteparish pray for him is a great source
of strength for the pastor. To be
uplifted in prayer empowers the
pastor in the pulpit to boldly
proclaim the Law and Gospel. Do not
be afraid to ask your members to
pray for you as a pastor, a husband
and a father. Dr. Luther knew what
prayer could accomplish in the parish
for his ministry as he served Christ.
