Receiving a free calendar from Concordia Seminary (801), featuring the Reformed theologian, Peter Martyr's, tome on the Defense of the Eucharist. Really?
Excuse my lack of knowledge, but why is this apparently inappropriate? What beliefs of this theologian are inconsistent with Lutheran theology regarding the Eucharist?

Calvin thought he wrote one of the best books on the Eucharist ever - he had enormous influence over pushing the Anglicans away from Lutheranism and toward the Reformed position on the Eucharist. Very sad. As a friend put it on Facebook: 1549 BCP was essentially Lutheran; 1552 was what happened after Peter's influence took over.
Wasn't he one of the early ones who attacked the perpetual virginity of the Theotokos? I seem to remember John Stephenson suggesting that his attack was why that mention of the "semper mansit" was made in the Formula of Concord. (I many be wrong--I'm forgetting a lot of that stuff as I get older.)
Must have been the reason it was free... Sad
