That was in our
Treasury (LSB daily lectionary) this morning. “And I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who shall do according to what is in my heart and in my mind. And I will build him a sure house, and he shall go in and out before my anointed forever.” St. John the Baptist came to mind as a possible fulfillment of this beyond Samuel. He was of the priestly house as Luke 1:5 shows. And St. John the Baptist goes in before the Christ, every year in Adventide, heralding His coming. And he goes OUT before the Lord in the sense that he is the forerunner also of the Passion of the Christ.
