What a joy to be with the saints down in Mascoutah for an afternoon of rejoicing in the Church's rich treasury of hymnody. Nancy Peterson is one amazing organist! And the Trinklein family with their musical gifts! One joy on top of another. And to finish off the day with Evening Prayer and President Timothy Scharr giving us joy in the Good Shepherd. Well, it was a great way to spend a beautiful Spring afternoon. The day included:
Lord, Enthroned in Heavenly Splendor
My Song Is Love Unknown
O Sacred Head, Now Wounded
From Depths of Woe (and Mendelssohn's Organ Sonata 3)
O Sons and Daughters (both tunes, artfully woven together)
Christ Has Arisen, Alleluia!
I Know that My Redeemer Lives
Up Through Endless Ranks of Angels (Henry Gerike commented and played!)
A Hymn of Glory Let Us Sing
Dear Christians, One and All Rejoice
Thine the Amen, Thine the Praise
Crown Him With Many Crowns
At the Lamb's High Feast We Sing
The Day Thou Gavest
All Praise to Thee, My God, This Night
Brass, strings, bongo, piano, organ, voice—all united in praising together the Triune God and proclaiming together the great things He has done. Folks, this is what TIME is given to you for.
I was sorry to miss this. I hope there will be more!
