of the Historic propers for the Easter season is that the Gradual disappears and the Alleluia is doubled - which means we get to sing the three-fold (or if you're using the Celtic alleluia, the four-fold) alleluia three times instead of just twice. Sweet!

Where is this a Rubric in found? The closest I can find is the Rubric on the Gradual in The Lutheran Liturgy which doesn't specifically omit the Gradual in favor of the Triple Hallelujah.
If you look in the Altar Book, page 893ff. for all the Sundays following Easter, you'll read:
"During the celebration of Easter and Pentecost, the Gradual is omitted and the Verse is expanded."
