Gotta Luv It!

Today we got Lauren's new iPhone (happy graduation to you!). When we got MY iPhone from Best Buy, they told us they didn't have any way to sync my data from my old cell phone. AT&T store said the exact same. I did a lot of updating on Address Book to enter the data from my old phone. Today at Apple, they just pop her card into the iPhone and copy everything over and then put in the new SIM. Good gravy!!! Someone needs to talk to the folks at Best Buy and AT&T... Also her whole transaction was done in a fraction of the time it took me at Best Buy. I think that store is misnamed.

Its not misnamed, its just a problem people have today defining words like Best and Good and Evil and Bad.

Don't get me started on Best Buy, pastor. Now that Circuit City and CompUSA are gone, it's slim pickings for a decent techie store, and Best Buy is also way overpriced for what they have. Most of the high school kids at Best Buy don't have a clue, either. I'd recommend Frys or Microcenter, but they're not in your area. Sorry...

Did your old cell phone have a SIM card? If I remember correctly, Verizon Wireless phones don't have SIM cards, and so it wouldn't be as easy as an AT&T phone that had a SIM card.

That said, there is always software and cables, and any proper techie and a little bit of money could have done it. :)

Dan's right, Verizon uses CDMA, therefore no sim cards, AT&T uses GSM which does have sim cards.

He's also right that a little know-how could have transferred the stuff. Well, and a fee!

I just got a new Blackberry (from Alltel/Verizon) and they did the data transfer right there as well. It was great... Best Buy really should invest in one of those octopus-like units with every possible data connector.
