The smell of fried chicken...

...ranks right up there with bacon, fresh brewed coffee, and baking bread.  Tummy is definitely letting me know that it likes what nose is smelling.  When's lunch????

I just heard bacon described a few weeks ago as "the food of joy." All these years I've been wondering why I like it so much. It makes me happy. :)

OK guys, are you ready for this -- my mom used to make me the best sandwich ever for lunch when I was a kid, and I STILL like them even though I make them for myself, and so does my older son -- peanut butter and bacon on toast.

I know I must be getting old, because I could almost swear that I read that Terry was eating and liking bacon and peanut butter on toast. I didn't read that, did I???

P.E.,
We did that too, and added a slice of tomato. We call it a St. Paul sandwich. I don't know where the name came from, but that sandwich is great.

Had a BLT yesterday with sourdough bread from a German bakery, nice vine ripened tomatoes, homemade mayo with a hint of dill... OOOOOOh and the bacon... thick sliced, peppered, not too crispy and not to wimpy... but I only ate one....which is less than I wanted...

Bacon... Fried chicken...

Is this the same person who says a little later that his natural bent is toward vegetarianism !?

Perhaps because he decided to run a mile...or five...while the burgers were cooking???

Or maybe he was smelling the lilacs....

Helen,

Sadly, lilacs all gone. The truth is that I despise dealing with raw meat; if I had to do so regularly, I'd be happy eating only vegetarian (which I did for years and years). I confess that I love the taste and smell of bacon - just absolutely detest making it. Never feel the same way about fixing a rice dish or loaf of bread!

I'm not quite to the point of eating bacon raw, but I'm pretty close. Everyone else seems to enjoy crispy bacon, but that's a waste. Close to off the animal is on the mark.
