That time again...

...Ye Olde Blog has crossed the 750,000 visitors since we started counting (unfortunately, well into the blog's life).  So this is YOUR chance.  Introduce yourself to me and the other readers and tell us a bit about yourself.  Don't be bashful!

As a young man, I would often say I’m married with children. In the latter days, tail end of middle age, I am a confessional Lutheran by choice (and grace), husband, and father of three. The Lord has gather this poor miserable sinner and family to Saint John, Wheaton. The Lutheran Mass is the highlight of the week for our family. Among my favorite bible verses are 1 Peter 3:15 and 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Someday, I’ll get around to the story about the name Larry Luder. For now, God bless you and carry on Rev Weedon.

51, 5'10" 200+ (thanksgiving took its toll). Mom took me to adult instruction with her, and so you could say I had my first confirmation class at the age of 4, was Baptized on the same day as my two older sisters were baptized and my mom was confirmed and recieved. Desert Storm veteran, 10 years in the ministry, married 2 years and have three step children. Had a stroke a year and half ago, but doing well now. Favorite word is Joy. Formula One racing fan. Wondering when Brother Weedon is gong to write "The young Lutheran's guide to the church Fathers." ;) congratulations on an excellent blog.

Dixie here.

Infrequent commenter these days. Life's priorities have a way of influencing that.

BUT...I saw something from Pastor Bergstrazer that made me stop and comment. Formula One racing! My husband (who is Lutheran) is a huge fan. And our cat, Renault, (not Lutheran, not Orthodox...hard to tell) offers occasional kitty F-1 commentary on Facebook and has a boat load of fans. Most are not from the US though...here NASCAR reigns. Pastor Bergstrazer you should look her up. (Seriously though...F-1 is like a man's soap opera. Lot's of drama!)

Pastor Weedon, always a pleasure. I especially like it when you publish reports of Jo beating you at cards. Go Jo!!!

Dixie,
I'd be delighted to get in contact, not sure how, my office e-mail is on the LCMS directory. "Men's soap opera" eh? Well, if the shoe fits; there's an old saying 'Formula One is nine months of backstabbing and intrigue interrupted every two weeks by a race." (its a sickness really) :)

PS. You named your cat Renault? I take it she's yellow with black stripes.

Dixie said...

Pastor Bergstrazer, no she isn't yellow with black stripes, rather my husband named her Renault because he said she acted French...whatever that means. My Brazilian colleagues at work are big Renault fans so they are happy to hear of her allegiance. Recently, Renault wrote this telling statement on her Facebook page. "Anyone can go to Walmart and buy a red ball cap and be a Ferrari fan!"

Sorry, but Mrs. Esch did not ask me to post a comment here. However, it sounds like a great school project for the students! I'm one of your many "friends" on Facebook, and a Lutheran residing in Troy, MI. I work for a credit union and am a part-time student at the University of Detroit Mercy working towards a Masters Degree in Economics. I enjoy reading your blog and often link to it from our own blog at http://lambert-blog.com. "Simul Justus Et Peccator"

Just a parishioner checking in from time to time - mostly to catch the sermons that I sometimes miss part of when helping a 4-year old in crisis! Ha ha!

I'm just a blog lurker from the Quad Cities who, as a Lutheran teaching in a Catholic high school, really enjoys your patristic quotes of the day.

"Introduce myself," he can't make me, can he? Well, I will anyway.I am just a blog lurker, very rarely posting anywhere, a pastor in Chicago for the past 11 years - not married (no children) - but I do have an awesome niece. I also have (at least) two CSL classmates who gaze upon this blog as well, I notice. Keep up the good work. Peace.
