Remembering back...

...wondering if it will be like it was back then:  days without heat.

Boy, oh, boy do I sure hope they're wrong about the ice...

When was that? And I've always pictured you as the adventurous sort. Whatever comes has the potential for a "Remember February of 2011? Wasn't that an adventure?"

Be safe, and consider it a time to hunker down in your home with family around you.

Bill...how many days into the power outage were you, at the point of this photo?

What is the artwork behind the freezing subjects in the photo?

2006, Jeremy. Um, I'm not adventurous; I'm a hobbit. Truly.

Scotty, that was about the fifth day, not long before the power returned.

Norman, I can never remember who painted the original of that. I'm thinking it was Dutch or Flemish or some such, and slightly pre-Reformation.

Yes! I suspeced it had to be close to 5 days... I had a similar "look" about me I'm certain...fortunately we have no pictures of us entering our 8-9th day without power from that beloved storm...

Wil,
I do hope so also, we have had ice and it is never pretty. Even if the power does not go out. Don't worry though, we are taking the eight inches of snow for you up in the frozen north. Well, at least that is what they tell us.

The artwork in your living room is Robert Campin's 'Triptych With The Annunciation.' Campin lived ca. 1378-1444 in Tournai. I thought that I had seen this before, and I had. It is at The Cloisters in New Yorlk City. Thisnwork dates from about 1425. The patron and his wife are in the left panel. Gabriel, in the second panel, announces to Mary that she will bear the Christ Child. In the third panel Joseph is working in his shop. Perhaps Joseph is making a trap to catch Satan. Plenty of symbolism at work here: the basin, the lily in the vase, the candle, the candlestick. Go to The Web Gallery of Art for a second look.
