Heterodox churches are churches and sects at the same time. They are churches insofar as they still retain such essentials of the Gospel and sacraments as will allow people to be converted and become children of God. But heterodox churches are also sects insofar as they deviate from the evangelical truth and so divide the church and by their errors threaten the faith of Christians.—Prof. Kurt Marquart,
The Church, p. 69.
