...THIS, and you are a pastor or teacher or deaconess in the LCMS, you should be.

Two thoughts come to mind:
1) "Everyone a minister..."
2) How long until CPH publishes the Harrison translation of Kirche & Amt?

actually William, if Herb is right and if the Obama administration gets its way, then if you are clergy in any American denomination, you should be following this.

Thanks so much for alerting me to this, Pastor Weedon. I had not been following it -- but I am now. I was surprised and pleased to notice that the lawyer arguing before the court today (Douglas Laycock) is one of our authors! (I work for Eerdmans publishing.) I can't think of anyone better to argue this critical case, but it still gives me chills to think of the possible ramifications for our Lutheran church, our kids' Lutheran school, and my husband/pastor if the case goes badly.

I'm with the Deacon. On philosophical-political grounds I'm certainly routing for the congregation as I have no love for state interference in any hiring/firing. But on theological grounds it's hard to route for the disingenuousness of the Missouri Synod in telling the US government that we have female "ministers." Our duplicity is clearly contrary to the intent of the law - to say nothing of our theology.
