That brings back fond memories - when I was young we had a cat who liked to sit on the far right of the piano while I practiced. When he'd had enough, he'd walk the entire length of the piano before jumping down. I was still able to practice till then!

It'd be one thing if he stayed where he was... But he follows my hands around. Wherever I want to play, he lays.

That's funny for a few minutes, but not if you really want to play. Boots just laid up at the far end and watched. I even have a picture somewhere.

I had a "fur stole"... a cat who would consent to being draped around my neck, inside my jacket collar, while I did outdoor chores on cold Minnesota evenings.
Warmer for both of us!

Maybe the cat was trying to remember how to play Zez Confrey's "Kitten on the Keys", like Zez shows Babe Ruth at about 3:15 into the 1930s movie clip, "Home Run on the Keys." A recent version of the 1921 feline piano music is played by Frederick Hodges.
