…God’s own child!

It is always a wonderful event when a child becomes a child of God through Holy Baptism. In this context, I think that the visible tattoo that your wife wears is a beautiful symbol in life with Jesus Christ. It is always a reminder of the baptismal grace in which a Christian can trust, and it is also a confession of one's own baptism and life as a Christian. I have an Ichtys tattoo on my left wrist and a Christian anchor tattoo with a recognizable cross and heart on my right inner ankle. The fish tattoo is a statement for Jesus Christ as God's Son and Savior and the anchor tattoo is a statement for the Christian virtues of faith, love and hope and Jesus Christ as our anchor. I would like a baptismal shell as a tattoo for my left inner ankle and a cross tattoo, like you wear, would be for my right wrist. However, there are different views on whether Christians are allowed to have tattoos. However, I am very pleased that you are a theologically conservative Lutheran and that the Christian tradition and the Western liturgy are also important to you. Unfortunately, Lutheranism in Germany is characterized by either rationalism or pietism. Prussian state Protestantism has also largely erased the liturgical heritage from the time of the old church. In the meantime, however, there are more and more pastors who are rediscovering the old liturgical customs. God bless you and your family! I wish you a blessed Sunday! Kind regards, Marcus
