Catechesis: Distinction between Moral, Civil, and Ceremonial Law

Now when we refer to the “law” in this discussion, we mean the commandments of the Decalogue, wherever they appear in the Scriptures. For the present we will say nothing about the ceremonial and civil laws of Moses….because to some extent human reason naturally understands it [the commandments of the Decalogue] since reason contains the same judgment divinely written on the mind.
