What is it about

Holy Advent-tide that fills the heart with such joy? The hymns, the readings, the prayers. They shine a light inexpressibly beautiful into the darkness of these "grey and latter days."

Gladdened and enraptured because of the multitude of blessings Your coming in the flesh has brought us, Only-begotten Son of God, I rise from my bed and lift up my hands to You, from whom comes all my help. You come to be a guest in this world to rescue and save it, and since I am part of the world You came also for my benefit, to bless me, that I may have life in You, and have it abundantly. How, then, could I not rejoice? How could I not be glad? - Starck's Prayer Book, p. 48
