New Lutheran Quote of the Day

If one takes the formed prayer of the liturgy seriously, he will find he cannot be the same sort of person his selfish interests suggest he remain. In praying with the Church he will find his own spiritual life being deepened and his awareness of the needs of others growing. -- Earnest Koenker, *Worship in Word and Sacrament* p. 104.

one commentator, on the "Pray to the Lord of the Harvest" instruction said something similar - that one cannot pray such a prayer without finding oneself wanting to be involved in the Harvest work

I have a hard time praying to the Lord of the Harvest without wanting to be involved in the Mahler 2 again.
