in honor of Lynn's 50th and Lauren's 23, 13 of us gathered around the table this evening (and SOMEONE is still in his 40's...):

It must have been a real feast because I see that the wine was served from bottles and not a box!

The HERBERTS brought the wine - they made it!

Please tell your wife that I absolutely adore her black and white kitchen floor.

(I notice small details. I'm weird, I know!)

Jen,

It's actually dark green and white. It's quite scarred and messed up after all these years; needs to be replaced. But we absolutely loved it when it was new.

Is it painted on? We're working on fixing up our own kitchen, that's why I'm asking.

No - a kind of linoleum or some such. It was a pattern on it. It was wonderfully shiny at first, particularly the white squares. But we have asphalt around us, and that tends to "yellow" the white, regardless of how hard you scrub. I think if we get a chance, we'd love to see it replaced with one of those floating fake wood floors. Pergo? Is that what they're called?
