O Antiphon for December 17

O Wisdom, proceeding from the mouth of the Most High, pervading and permeating all creation, mightily ordering all things, come and teach us the way of prudence!

O come, thou Wisdom from on high,
Who governs all things mightily,
To us the path of knowledge show,
And cause us in her ways to go.
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to thee,
O Israel!

I have been listening to archives of the series you did on Issues, Etc last December on the O Antiphons.
They have been my advent focus and your discussion of them have expanded their meanings beyond anything else I have heard or read.
Thank you.
Also appreciate the Liturgy series you did. There is such a need for these messages, before it's too late and we, and our children, and their children lose out on the treasures of the Liturgy and how it works to transform us and our worship. I am in the ELCA and am heartbroken when I look over the "Renewing Worship" hymnal/project and am already mourning what we a leaving behind on the cutting room floor.

Thanks, Nan, for the kind words. It was a lot of fun to do both those series. I really do pray that Lutheranism can wake up to see the huge silliness of throwing away her liturgical heritage!
