Amazing in a bad way, or amazing in a good way? Because here's what I took from it: For more than the price of an iPhone you'll get a slightly larger iTouch with the same inability to render Flash, no multitasking, and all the backbreaking stress of trying to use a tablet form-factor computer.
There's pretty much nothing on there that I can't do already with my iPhone except for play high-graphics games, and there are very few games that I could see multi-touch ability actually benefiting.
Will, you are definitely not pc and while I am no fan of Microsoft, I more nut than fruit (like you)... I guess we will wait to see... interesting though Apple's stock fell??
Done what again? The only apple products in my life are these red things you eat that grow on trees.
My kids do have iPods though, which seem to do well at playing back music that should not be played back because it should not have been recorded because it should not have been made in the first place.
And while I'm on that, when is pop or rock or whatever it is going to come up with something new? Judas H Priest with a Blackberry, when I was my kids' age pop music was about new, nobody went around playing stuff that sounded like Tommy Dorsey etc, but now everything sounds about 40 years old and some of it is!
Maria, Thou Te Deum Expert Extraordinaire, you NEED to get a Mac...
;)
Ariel, I'm thinking of how nice it would be to have the "in between" item, myself.
Fr. Peters, I never pay attention to Apple stock, but I am totally sold on Apple's products. Kindle on my iPhone is my latest favorite app, but I think the one on iPad looks tasty...
Terry, you are the ultimate rebel - apple products are made for you! Seriously!
Macs drive me up the wall. I hate using them. I'm a Google person, myself. Desktop gadgets all over my desktop, and the Android is a fantastic phone OS.
Me, a rebel, why, I barely have opinions let alone the inclination to argue for them, and shrink from controversy, ask anyone!
Toshiba computers and Samsung phones have served me fine with no complaints for years.
As to music players, I mostly use the one in my head, except sometimes, late at night, the boys are asleep, I may fire up the old Kenwood CD player with studio headphones and slap in a little Jimi Hendrix "Red House" or something by my other Luther, Allison.
You know I'm as big of an Apple fanboy as they come, but I have to agree with Ariel, the lack of multitasking and Flash on this is a major letdown. I am somewhat underwhelmed.

But hey, at least it was a PR success!

I've had a hybrid tablet for a couple years. Best of both worlds - pen and touchscreen capability, physical keyboard, AND it's PC

Hey, they'll be turning in soon ...
Kudos Ariel. Let me share this piece of joy with you (posted it on Cyberbrethren, too) to put things into proper perspective.
And more seriously, have a look here. Let's not get too carried away by glitz.
What Ariel said. Except that bit about the PR.... well, let's just say that it's pretty clear there were no women involved in the naming process.
I've never laughed like I did yesterday tracking commentary on Twitter over the name of the device. Sigh.
And if it's too big to fit in my purse or a jacket pocket, I want Flash on my websites!
