Old Lutheran Quote of the Day

There is no other way to faith than through a person's knowledge of sin and his damnable condition and through the inward crushing of the heart in contrition and sorrow.  A person who does not come to faith in this way is not a believing Christian - much less a theologian. -- C. F. W. Walther, Law and Gospel, p. 257

Presumably the babies who cry during Baptism are demonstrating “the inward crushing of the heart in contrition and sorrow.” Somehow I knew though, that they are not theologians.

Peace and Joy to all you believing Christians and Theologians.
