Picked up shortly before trip to Canada an iPad Mini with retina. WOW! Love this little puppy and am amazed at all the stuff it can do. Have you ever contemplated the consolidation of gadgets? This thing is a camera, a video recorder, email reader, web surfer, word processor, spread sheet maker, presentation maker, skype and facetime device, e-book reader, netflix viewer, DirecTV viewer, photo album, gaming device, and the list only goes on! It easily fits into my pocket of my coat and makes writing on the road a piece of cake. The more I use it the more amazed I am. Does it replace the laptop? Not quite yet, but it sure as shooting is getting close.

Have you had a regular sized iPad? How do you feel about the difference in size?
Sam,
Yup. Had an iPad2. Difference in size is remarkably negligible when it comes to actual use. You just don't notice that you're lacking space.
Just get a Bluetooth keyboard and use Pages app and Evernote.
As she was keying in my info onto her tablet yesterday, I was chatting with the nurse. Turns out she got her degree in data processing at SWIC (before it was SWIC) in 1979, using those old punch cards. And I was holding my cell phone, just thinking of how many machines it had replaced and had so much more power than those old computers she learned on. And my cell is around 10 years old!
Then we got into a conversation about her conversation with a monsignor back then that led to me alieving her fears of getting germs from the Common Cup, since "Jesus already knew back then more science than we do now, and He didn't have a problem with possible germs." She thanked me, saying she had never thought of it that way before. But that's off topic...
