Ah, Hamel

You just never know what you're going to see out on a bike ride. Today we saw at a neighboring farm, redcoats and patriots reenacting some battle from the Revolutionary war - cannon, flags, and all. As the men were preparing to engage in battle and giving the battle cry, I mentioned to Cin: "Men and their toys."

Hey, I know better than mock men armed with cannons and muskets...

I saw some of your weird little toe shoes, when I went into to get some new hiking boots.

They even sell cute little toe socks for them.

Yeah, Paul. Come run with me 15 miles - me in my shoes and you in whatever shoes you choose - and then we'll talk. :)

I didn't realize the Revolutionary War made it out so far west. :)

You sure it wasn't a tax day tea party?

George has a point. Although, I remember being at the reconstructed British fort at Loudon TN. It was built by South Carolina to protect the Cherokee (among whom are some of my kids ancestors) British alliance during the French and Indian difficulties. The alliance fell apart, and the fort fell to the Cherokee on 6 August 1760. The site was vacant for centuries and I saw it a year after its reconstruction in 1965. However, TVA dams place the Little Tennessee River by the fort, which is not where it was then.

Not exactly Illinois. And, I remember thinking you put a bunch of us English guys out there with no showers and no river for a period of time and it won't be so good for the nose after a while.
