New Lutheran Quote of the Day

The dominant characteristic in man's thinking in religious matters is the notion that it is up to him to do or be something that will get him right with God. -- Dr. Norman Nagel, Springfielder, Fall 1963, p. 41.

Dr. Nagel's statement may have been
true of American culture in 1963.
Unfortunately, in the 21st century
our current culture is less interested in what God thinks about
anything. For many people of the
contemporary scene God is not even
part of the discussion about life.
There are folks who simply want to
enjoy the pleasures of life and when
it is over, it is over. Very sad
outlook, the church has a mission to reach these people with the
Good News of Christ.
