LSB is one very solid and good book. Tonight (and tomorrow) we use Divine Service 4 (5th Sundays; DS 3 for all the rest). No, it's not my own preference, but it is nevertheless a quite solid and fine liturgy. I think the congregation is also growing to appreciate it a great deal; at least, they belted it out (even with a relatively small attendance).

Out here, they may as well have left out the last four of the five settings, so far as I can tell.
We rotate between 1, 3, and 4. DS 4 was new for this congregation, and it's currently used the least. Pastor leans us heavily towards DS 1, for which I'm very glad.
My major beef with DS 4 is that it's pitched too low. :)
Terry,
My parish loves 3 and can live with 4 or 5, but don't try to serve up 1 or 2 on them!
Jen,
You MUST be a soprano...
I sound like a 10 yr old boy when I sing, Pr. Weedon. :)
You GOTTA move to Hamel, dear!
I'm not a huge fan of the Agnus Dei in DS 4. The three-fold nature of the hymn is lost on me. I can only discern two.
On the plus side, though, my congregation learned a new chorale tune because of it!
I think it's a fairly good order of service. I like the propers for the prayer of thanksgiving One criticism I have: the declaration of grace doesn't seem to "declare" anything at all. It's more of a prayer FOR grace.
