Advent Devotional!

Hot off the presses! Hey, folks, for any size contribution to my podcast: The Word of the Lord Endures Forever before the start of Advent, you can receive my Advent Devotions book. I wrote it in part out of frustration with other Advent devotions that were too long or that ignored the various days of the Church Year. I wrote these short daily devotions (each featuring a verse or two of Scripture, a hymn stanza, devotional thoughts, and a prayer) to be used ideally at the dinner table as you light the Advent Wreath. Want a copy? Send your donation to:

Pastor, thank you for this devotional, I look forward to reading through it and begin edified by the Word.

I have a question for you, if that is alright. I am currently on vicarage in MI, and our staff is working through Dr. Pless and Dr. Corzine's book, "Faith in the Shadow of a Pandemic." While reading through that and other Luther Works on the topic, I was reminded of a post you made long ago about Philipp Nicholai and his work, "A Mirror of Joy of the Life Eternal." I remember you saying that you were working on a translation of that book; and I was wondering if that process had ever been completed?

If so, I would love to be able to read more from Philipp!

Either way, I pray all is well for you.

Alas, I’ve not ever gotten back to that! Retirement? Unless someone else gets to it first.

Hi Brother Pastor Weedon,

Would it be possible to receive 50 or more copies of this devotional for our little congregation in Pekin, IL? We would gladly donate to support your podcast in a way to cover any cost and beyond! Please let me know if this might be possible and, if so, whom I might contact.

How awesome! I love Celebrating the Saints, and am sure your Advent Devotional will be no different. I made a donation to the podcast through the link you provided. Is there anything else I need to do?

Ian,

Simply wanted to let you know that a small portions of Philipp Nicolai's A Mirror of Joy of the Life Eternal" have been translated in a work by Gerald S Krispin, "A Mirror of Life in the Face of Death" in Dona Gratis Donata: Essays in Honor of Normal Nagael. Krispin does a nice job of introducing the history of the work and then given you snippets of it.

Cheers, Chris.

Our family used this and it was just what I was looking for. I am hoping you will write something for Lent.
