Why is Lutheran architecture so different than Eastern Orthodox architecture? I assume that's your church. What's the history of Lutheran church architecture?
It's really not, though. What we represent by the open arch, the Orthodox represent by the iconostasis: heaven is now open to us and made one with us by the incarnation and paschal mystery of the Lamb of God. The typical Lutheran church has a narthex or entry way; the nave where the people gather; the sanctuary from which the sacrament is served and from which the Word is proclaimed.
What open arch?
