New Lutheran Quote of the Day

Rather than commanding moral and ethical perfection, the phrase "be perfect" pleads with Christians to show mercy to everyone. By graciously accepting others, Christians reflect God's universal benevolence. Because no outstanding debts are owed to God, none are owed to his children. Slates are wiped clean. -- David Scaer, *Discourses in Matthew* p. 223.
