Wednesday Afternoon

Still hoping for a chance to move a substitution on the lay ministry resolution to pull the SID/NID overture and get it on the floor for at least discussion and hearing.  Stood long time at mic and turn never came around before it was remanded to to the committee - whence, I wonder, if they will let it die...

Thanks for the effort.

I hope and pray that our soon to be former bishop can have much influence on this issue in the new administration. He's certainly been a rock here in SID.

At last count, there are probably around 80 resolutions that have not even been presented for discussion.

Don't get your hopes up.

You mean President Mueller had to come and do your confirmations for you? Wow, SID sounds like a silly place...

Or do you mean your soon to be former archbishop - one who holds a position of authority over a collection of bishops by jure humano? =o)

But seriously - thanks for the effort. It was three years ago that I got to stand in line never to be heard from on that very same issue -- Come to think of it, I was turning around and making snide comments to HRC at the same time -- the more things change. . .

Wher can I be enlightened on what Pr. Weedon is speaking of?

Brown-
I'm glad I was there 3 years ago, I'm sure it was much more fun being on the losing end all the time.

Of course I was able to work my way to the mic a time or two for kicks.

If folks want to call district presidents "bishop," perhaps they should go one step further and call the synodical president "Pope." By jure humano, of course.

All I know is that the English District DP has been called "Bishop" for a good long time. Does anybody here know the history behind that?

I chaired the floor committee in NID that passed the resolution through our convention. I was disappointed, though not surprised, that it made the floor referenced in a resolution that did exactly the opposite. It was a little strange considering the report in the convention workbook explicitly stated that licensed lay deacons should NOT be preaching nor administering the sacraments, but in the same report it also says that they provide a valuable service.

In three years I think it will have a much better chance of coming to the floor. Until then, we catechize like there's no tomorrow. The mood of the LCMS is changing.

I also was left standing at the mic trying to bring the SID resolution to the floor as a substitute motion.
