Patristic Quote of the Day

While you are standing in church, do not engage in idle conversation but listen patiently to the divine lessons. If a man wants to talk idly in church, he will have to render an evil account both for himself and others, because he neither listens to the word of God himself nor allows others to do so. -- St. Caesarius of Arles, Homily 13

Notice he says "standing" not sitting. Standing has been and still should be our correct posture in churches, not being comfortable in pews or other cushy seats. No one would dare sit in the presence of the emperor, why should we sit in the very presence of God?

Better watch it, Chris, or a Babushka's gonna wallop you one (with her cane from the side benches...)

The yia-yias at the church are pretty docile plus I have plenty of warning since I'm at the chanters stand and have a pretty good panorama of the church and anyone who may seek to do me harm!
