On today's bike ride...
...under a mostly sunny sky, I got to see a snapping turtle (crossing the bike path by the swamp), lots of killdeer and red-winged black birds, and I got to smell the honeysuckle that is just blooming. About a ten mile trip or so (up to DeCamp and back). Wind was with me all the way, but boy did I feel it when I turned around.

Cool! I saw a snapping turtle today, too. Unfortunately (for the turtle), he was upside-down and smashed dead in the middle of the road. Felt kind of sorry for the fella, but I guess it was his time, as they say. Sounds like you had a much more pleasant “encounter.”
I wonder what it was with snapping turtles today? I saw one too. He was in the middle of the road, but he wasn't upside-down (at least not yet). I hope he made it to the other side.
