I love my parish, but there are moments when my joy in them overflows. I rejoice with all my heart to see how they open their hearts in love and compassion when responding to a need. "If we love one another, God lives in us." How utterly true!
In these days of sore economic distress, our congregations are in the right place at the right time to provide mercy to those within and without the congregation. Matt Harrison re-convinced me of such a thing at our pastors conference a couple weeks ago as well as in his outstanding book.
It is my hope to teach my congregation more about mercy that we may help those in our congregation who need to be served the love of Christ in word and deed.
It is truly the Church's kairos . God give us the courage to bring Christ to those hurting!

I linked to you today in my post and used your quotes. Thank you very much and have a blessed day.
Edie,
I read your post. Beautiful job of getting at the heart of Lent. Thank you for writing that up!
