Thanks for the link.
I just went over and watched the CRAVE video. I kept getting the feeling I was about to see Ashton Kutcher jump out from behind the curtain and say: "This isn't really a Lutheran Church run by an LCMS seminary professor. You just got PUNK'D!" Unfortunately, it never happened. But I still can't seem to shake the feeling that I've been PUNK'D. What gives?
I don't really know what you're talking about, Fr. Frog, but it's always best to look what is solidly in the face. This IS the face of the LCMS - along with many places where there is faithful proclamation and reverent liturgy. How long can these two ways walk side by side?
Sorry my comment was so difficult to understand. I tried too hard. :-)
But watching the CRAVE video, and hearing that a seminary professor started and manages the joint, and that it is supposed to be some kind of Lutheran Church... well, let's just say it's so absurd that I found it difficult to believe it wasn't some kind of prank. Thus the reference to Ashton Kutcher.
On the 8th commandment front....perhaps the coffee and eats is just the twentieth(!) century version of the agape meal. Strike that. Maybe it is a twentieth(!)century capitalist version of the agape meal---being that they do charge their customers for the food and drink.
Signed, The Rev. Fr. Michigan J. Frog
PS--If CRAVE didn't claim to be a Church, then I wouldn't have such a problem with it. I love to sit down with friends around a cup of java and talk theology. The more, the merrier.

Fr. Weedon,
