David's Latest

A self-portrait he had to do for one of his art classes. He informs me that this is in a "Rembrandt" style (not that I've got the first clue what that means!). But I liked it and thought I'd share:

I think the difference is that the "van Gogh" style features only one ear; the "Rembrandt" style allows two. FWIW, I believe the "Picasso" style requires at least two noses.
Believe it or not, I'm completely self-taught in these matters!
Keep sharing.

I wouldn't exactly call it the Rembrandt style as that wasn't the assignment... it's uh... inspired by Rembrandt's style, obviously he wouldn't have done anything with a plain white background and a mouse cursor. Beyond that, this painting has a much stronger/brighter fill light (I used a spotlight he probably used candles). Also, you posted the unfinished product. Get the one off my facebook.

This is a wonderful portrait. He has his own style. Good job, David!
