It's not a coincidence that the add praises the Church Fathers and yet the only one it chooses to acknowledge is St. Augustine. What's wrong with Basil the Great?
And what was with the closing music? That was just wrong.
Now Christopher, much as I agree about the closing music, I disagree about Ephesians. To quote a verse and not include the next verse is not at all to deny the truth in the next verse. What Lutherans denies that we ARE created for good works, which God prepared beforehand for us to walk in them? But then why stop with that verse, what about the next, and the next? St. Augustine is quoted indeed, but he IS the foremost father of the Christian West and that is our heritage as Western Catholic Christians; again, it does not diminish the other fathers.
Mostly music to the ears of a convert. I , however, also believe the closing music was quite anti-climactic. I also think they could have used some more Lutheran artwork that appears in some of the more historic and tastefully decorated churches. Overall, a decent piece

I didn't care for the hippy music at the end either - like that Tim Patty fella they had on at halftime. You'd think the boy could afford a razor.
And the free-standing altar almost made me hit the three-fingered salute and shut down the computer - but all in all, a helluva good commercial. It won't make the Super Bowl, but then again, neither did the Miami Dolphins. Of course, I've got a pretty good beer buzz going, I may hate it tomorrow.
But what chaps my hide are all these Eastern Orthodox stalkers lurking around Lutheran websites like icon-toting tapeworms. Cripes, don't you people have prayers to say or something? At least go drink a few ouzos or vodkas. At least if you're drunk, your superiority complex will be a little more bearable. Weedon, you need to "man up" and start tossing these hangers-on off the Witty Trail back into the Adriatic where they belong.
Next thing you know, I'm going to have to start smacking around guys with beards and black skirts on the bikes coming to my door with magazines.
Look, if you want to convert, just say so. If you want to come into full fellowship with Mother Church, I'm sure Billy Weedon will be happy to teach you.

PS: The Adriatic is a beautiful sea. My wife and I took a ferry from Bari, Italy to Patras, Greece some years ago. The sunrise makes one appreciate the aptness of Homer's description: "Rosy-fingered dawn."

I don't mind the music at the end. It's ok. I wouldn't be upset it it was changed to a "rousing chorale," though either.
The ONLY issue I see with the video is the fact that ALMOST NO ONE in the general public (and esp. those in mainline evangelical protestantism) understands the difference between Catholic (ie Roman) and catholic (ie universal)
That MUST be explained better in the video if it's to adequately reach those seeking a more sacremental, liturgical, gospel-rich faith.
I'd also love to see this in a shorter TV-length version of about 1 minute.
Actually, I thought they were showcasing that praise band shown earlier in the video! ;-) Yep, it is just a bit incongruous to ask the viewer if he/she is looking for something better than that (praise bands and Power Point), and then close the video with just that kind of music. If they can reproduce the video with a more appropriate piece, they just may have something going for them.
I posted a link to this video on my blog, and now it's been pulled. This is very frustrating. This happens a lot on YouTube. I hope the author is improving it and will re-post it. I hope he is not monkeying with it to make less "Catholic".
I disagree with making a distinction between "Catholic" and "catholic." We seem to have an inferiority complex on this. If we capitalize things like Holy Baptism and Holy Church - we should capitalize Catholic as well. It's bad enough that we have virtually surrendered the word all together thanks to our stubborn adherence to German (which translated the word badly as "Christliche" in the 15th century). I think we should be unapologetic in refusing to surrender our Catholicism to Rome or anyone else.
Note that the Triglot translation of the Confessions (CPH 1921) shamelessly uses the word "Catholic" without the artificial lower case "c".
The original Greek of the creeds had no lower vs. upper case distinction. Furthermore, the Roman Church now also spells "catholic" with the small "c" in its official English translation of the creeds.

A rousing Lutheran chorale would have indeed been more appropriate. And there are so many wonderful ones from which to choose!
Nonetheless, this former Lutheran was glad to see it.
I put this on my blog, too. The end music isn't bad, but it's not good.
The lettering needs to be a different color at times, too, because it's washed out a bit.
